The Power of Silence

Silence is the most enjoyable thing. Silence means "Silencing the mind". It does not mean that we should not talk and keep silence for ever; but avoid unnecessary talks. Outwardly one may be silent, but inwardly if the mind always chatters the purpose of silence has no meaning. Many times we keep doing frivolous talks, just for the sake of talking. Also keeping silence does not mean that we should keep a sullen face, be ill humored and tight lipped. Meditating for just 20-30 minutes thrice a day is just one way of being silent. The energy gained by these means of meditation can be sustained only by way keeping a silent mind. In the workplace the necessity for talking is very minimum on personal matters. Silencing the mind and focusing our attention on a specific task is also a form of meditation. Silencing should not be misinterpreted to mean "Not to think anything for ever"; but to use the mind to think on a specific task as and when the necessity arises. When the subconscious mind is given with a firm order to deal with a specific task , it is better to avoid racking up the conscious mind for the solution. A silent mid can produce an excellent result, as most of the analysis is done at the subconscious level of the mind only and not by hustle-bustle way of thinking. That is why the enlightened people and great thinkers of the world are persons of few words only, but of great conviction.
