GODS IN THE MAKING
D.Ganesan
Life is a Puzzle. Most of us don’t understand “Who we are?” and “ What is the purpose of our existence?” I am also one such. But most of the people don’t even bother to think such questions. Do we need to think such questions itself is a question? It all depends on what we desire and seek. But what is seemingly very important to me may be a silly and unworthy matter for another person. It’s all in the Mind.
IS THERE ANYTHING BEYOND THE MIND?
Mind is like a coloured glass. If we wear red glasses the world appears red; if we wear blue it appears blue; whereas the colour of the world is something totally different. You feel happy means you are happy. You feel sad means you are sad. What seemed sad a few moment ago may turn out to be a happy thing a little latter and vice-versa. The finest example is of those who were caught in the traffic and could not reach the WTC on September 11, 2001 when the tragedy took place and were fortunate enoughto escape. Similarly what the mind considers as very important and crucial for me to pursue may not be of any importance for another. Even though we are physically alike, we are all unique in our way of thinking. Its all in the Mind. Ok. We use the mind to think. But what makes the mind to think. Is the mind everything and the most superior thing in a man? It seems it can not be; the reason being when we ourselves are sure that what the mind thinks may or may not be correct, then there must be something that is beyond this mind which is what? The Atman? The soul?
CAN WE BLAME THE MIND?
Certainly no. When mind itself is an imperfect thing how can we blame it? If it is a perfect thing it will not err. After all mind is a mind. It is simply doing its business of thinking, thinking, thinking…..that’s all. Then should it be that the mind should not think at all. Certainly No. We should understand that mind is nothing but a tool given to you. Whereas instead of yourself using the tool, a reverse process has taken place. The mind has started using us and we have become the slaves for the mind. So only so much of drug addicts and chain smokers. Otherwise we will be able to use the mind according to our discretion. But the mind uses us according its discretion for its whims and fancies. Obviously it becomes essential to quite the mind and deploy it according to our will. Then most of us will scream and say “Oh! if I don’t use the mind, then my mind will become blank and will I not become Mad?” Certainly No. It will be in a state of rest and awareness. Should awareness be so much essential?
IS THERE ANYTHING CALLED ABSOLUTE FREE WILL?
If we think a little deep, we get a fundamental doubt, as to whether we have absolute free will to execute. Absolute free will means we should be able to execute what we want really. Even though we can exercise our free will we are bound not to exercise the same for one reason or another depending on the circumstances, choices, decision making etc. We know that if a person commits suicide using his Free will; it does not mean that he is willingly doing that. The very concept of Free will itself seems to be illusory. What appears as free will itself is being controlled by another thing which is what? Is it the Karma?
ARE WE DESTINED?
If we are destined then we need nothing to do. No need to do anything. But we are animated beings; we are mind beings. We must have to do something with this body and mind. That is what all of us doing knowingly or unknowingly. But we simply don’t do something for the sake of doing something. We have aspirations, desires etc etc. How do we get this. We get this somehow. You can not force somebody and get them to aspire and desire something. As we know we can take the horse only up to the river; but cannot make it to drink water. It looks as though something leads us even without our awareness and knowledge. If it is so are there intangible forces acting on us from other planes and leading us in some direction called destiny? If we have no power to overcome these forces it means that we are destined. Are we really destined?
CAN THERE BE SO MANY GODS?
There are so many religions. So many Gods. Are we controlled separately according to our religion and our Gods. Not at all. Truth can be only one. It should be universal. There can not be Hindu Truth, Christian Truth, Muslim Truth and so on. If there is an Absolute Truth it should be beyond religions. Religion can only be a system of certain beliefs so as to understand the Absolute Truth. All of us accept that there should be an irrefutable Absolute Truth behind the existence of this universe. As it is absolute it could not have been created by somebody and it should have created everything or everything should have begun from that. If it is eternal it should be beyond Space and Time as time and space are not eternal and has definite beginnings even though we can not estimate their end. The Absolute Truth is “It is what it is”. If it changes it can not be absolute. Then how to understand the Absolute Truth?
IS THERE REASON FOR EVRYTHING HAPPENING?
If we watch this universe carefully we will find that everything is in an orderly sate of happening; systems so carefully designed and executed with impeccable precision, accuracy and repeatability. If a ball is thrown against a wall, the laws of the nature are strictly obeyed whatsoever the cause may be. All the laws of nature like Gravity, Energy, Magnetism etc are observed strictly by nature without any deviation.
WHAT COULD GOD BE?
The fundamental flaw in us is in imagining God to be a person like us. God can not be a person sitting somewhere and controlling this Universe. God should be the Absolute Truth encompassing all that is everywhere, seen and unseen, a Mighty Force, a form of Energy, a very big System, a cosmic computer never erring, an unbiased, all known genderless formless Generator, Operator and Destroyer. But if at all God wants he can create a personality for him in the form of human being and come down to earth. God is in everything and Everything is in God. All that is and all that will be God. Nothing can be out of the purview of God.. Then why don’t we realize the God? Why do Evil Exist?
ARE WE DIVINE OR SATANIC?
Everything is divine. Nothing is undivine in this universe. Then why we are not able to realize that we are divine. The simple answer is due to our Ignorance. Matter in its Gross form begins its journey of evolution from Ignorance. Even though Man at this stage of evolution does posses self awareness, he is still only a little advanced than the animals. Man still posses animal instincts. He is in a humanoid form and has left with lot more to evolve so as to become a perfect human being. If man has become perfect there won’t be Hatred, Jealousy, Anger, Violence and all negative qualities. But we are slowly progressing towards the destination of becoming perfect human beings. We can hasten the process of our evolution by our collective will.
